Moscow,Russia.

The past decade has ushered in more change in Moscow than the city has seen over the previous half-century. After a long period of lying fallow, Moscow's shops now house pricey restaurants, convenience stores and designer boutiques. Moscow nightlife formerly consisted of cheesy lounge singers performing at cheesier restaurants. It has since transformed into one of Europe's most decadent, lively party scenes.
However, modern Moscow's most interesting trait is its normalcy-after a decade of tremendous change and instability, Moscow has emerged as something resembling a typical European capital city. Although Moscow's streets still contain a fair amount of corrupt expatriates and Versace-clad mafiosi, there are also young Russian professionals driving Volkswagens, reading Russian Cosmopolitan and chatting on their cell phones. The crime that plagued post-Soviet Moscow has been curtailed, and the notorious mafia has become less flamboyant and less flagrant.
However, trekking to Moscow still isn't simple.Bureaucratic red tape still clogs the process, the airport is inefficient and visitors who don't speak Russian will have difficulty communicating. However, we think it's worth tolerating these difficulties. Moscow's dizzying run toward the future is invigorating, especially when viewed in contrast to all the reminders and landmarks of its past.
The Kremlin is in the center of Moscow's map. The walled, triangular citadel is located on the Moskva River and bordered by Alexander Gardens and Red Square. Many attractions and historical landmarks surround Red Square.
Three ring roads encircle the Kremlin. Located only 1 mi/2 km from the Kremlin, the first is the Boulevard Ring. Slightly farther out, the Garden Ring is actually an eight-lane, traffic-choked highway. It roughly delineates pre-Stalinist Moscow's boundary on the map.
The city of Moscow's approximate boundary is marked by the outer ring, the Moscow Ring Road or MKAD. Highways to all the cities of Russia radiate from this ring.
Modern Moscow boasts a number of hotels, motels and resorts. However, be aware that finding a moderately priced hotel, resort or motel may be difficult: Moscow's better hotels are pricey, and choosing a hotel not in this category is not advised. Moscow's hotels are rated by class-first, second and third-and you must specify your choice upon booking.
