Greenlanders will tell you they have three kinds of ice, and that's about three kinds too many for most travelers. But if you can get past the initial idea that ice = cold, you'll find that frozen water—and Greenland as a whole—can be fascinating.
Think of glaciers crowning steep and stony mountains. Think of enormous icebergs tumbling from the glaciers to the sea. Then think of the sea twisting between the jagged walls of a fjord and the Inuit villages that cling to the fjord's sides. You'll need lots of film.
Greenland is a corner of North America that's hard to get to and difficult to move about, so a good deal of money and effort will be necessary for any trip to the island. But if you're up for an adventurous outing in a place that's unlike most others, you'll get your money's worth.
