Especially when visitors to Cairo are in a hurry, they hear refrained the expression Ma'alesh (which translates loosely as "Don't worry about it"). Those who set reasonable goals, take frequent breaks, and drink plenty of water will have a memorable trip to Cairo.
Cairo International Airport is located in Heliopolis, about 15 mi/24 km from downtown Cairo. The trip from central Cairo to the airport takes 40 minutes to one hour, increasing during rush hour. Taxis provide the quickest, most way into Cairo from the airport. An airport express bus and courtesy hotel shuttles are alternatives from transport to and from Cairo's airport, but renting a car from the agencies at the airport isn't recommended for first-time visitors to Cairo.
